In the start of the article it talks about the bias that creeps in and the illusion businesses create based on meritocracy. Curious to know how you and your business account for this bias and how you have overcome this?

This often happens in fields like teaching and medical that overwhelming scew towards women but the top is almost always men – that can’t be simply because men are the ‘best’ for the role. You see it happening in HR too, scews more female but this falls off as you go up the chain.

I know who and what my business needs. Oil always rises to the top. There is too much government/HR social engineering policy interference in all organizations whether private or public. If we make racial or gender based hiring the guideline then we are reverse-discrimminating – nobody wins. It may look good but issues have not been addressed in the organization. Instead, let’s just strive to be our personal best in what we do, think and feel and get on with it. It will fall into place then. Gold always glitters that bit more.
